PRO-WORKER RALLIES AND EVENTS OVER THE HOLIDAY WEEKENDUnion member activism isn't limited to emails and phone calls, although those are very important.  If you're near Albuquerque, Valencia County, Las Cruces, or Santa Fe over the upcoming long weekend, please try to attend at least one of the following events with your family and wear your UNION shirts!

See complete list of events below.
Sunday we rally to protect Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act. Not only are these programs essential to many of our members and retirees health, many of our members' jobs are related to these critical programs.

Then, over the weekend, join us in celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life work.  Not only is he one of the greatest civil rights leaders in world history, but he was an unfailing champion for labor unions and economic opportunity for all. Many of you know that Dr. King was assassinated as he was helping to organize AFSCME sanitation workers in Memphis.  He succeeded even in his tragic early death, and to this day Memphis sanitation workers are represented by AFSCME Local 1733.

Yesterday, just in time for MLK weekend, New Mexico Federation of Labor applauded President Obama for creating three new National Monuments in Alabama and South Carolina which celebrating the Civil Rights Movement. Read more about this historic action click here: #MonumentsForALL
