Food Bank for Federal Employees

On Saturday, February 16th, the New Mexico Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), and the New Mexico Alliance for Retired Americans, in collaboration with RoadRunner Food Bank, will host a food bank for working families who were impacted by the recent government shutdown. For 35 days, more than 800,000 workers were locked out or forced to work without pay during the longest shutdown in the history of the United States. Working people took collective action to end the shutdown and they are joining together to continue to support government workers and their families as they recover from several weeks without pay.

Government workers are invited to come by the New Mexico Federation of Labor office on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm to pick up food and household supplies including laundry detergent, toiletries, and other necessities.

A semi-truck will be delivering donations for the food bank, thousands of pounds of food will be donated.
